As teens progress through puberty, their breasts can change size and shape as part of a natural process that may seem confusing at times. It’s important to keep in mind that there’s no single standard when it comes to bosoms – in fact they will likely keep evolving throughout adulthood!

As a result, it’s common for one breast to be larger than the other and have different shapes – this condition is known as asymmetrical development. Teenagers frequently wear bras of differing sizes; to find your optimal bra fit it’s wise to have your boobs measured!

Happily, most teenagers experience normal breast growth and development during their teenage years. If you notice changes to your breasts that cause concern, speak with an adult you trust as soon as possible and/or consult your physician if needed.

Studies may give the impression that girls’ insecurity with their breasts is caused by puberty itself; in reality, it often stems from media images telling them there’s something wrong with how they look. Dana Edell, Executive Director of SPARK (Sexualization Protest Action Resistance Knowledge), stated that while research may suggest such issues begin early on in girls’ lives, their body image problems often stem from messages received as children.
