Dangers of Snapchat – Don’t Snap Chat Teen Nudes

Snapchat is one of the most beloved messaging apps among teenagers, known for its innovative AR filters and disappearing messages. While teens enjoy using Snapchat, parents should be wary of potential risks related to this platform such as sexting; sending sexually explicit photos or text messages over Snapchat violates laws against minors as well as potentially have dire repercussions for one’s career and relationships in future years.

Sexters often engage in the practice of sharing intimate images among themselves as a form of self-expression or to gain attention from others; however, some teens may use these photos for blackmail purposes – including money or other benefits. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has received multiple reports of teens engaging in sextortion using Snapchat to exchange intimate photos between themselves.

Snapchat can also be used for cheating during tests. Students have been seen taking photos of their answers and snapchatting them out to other students in class; this practice has become an increasing problem among teenagers, which may have long-term repercussions for their educational development.

Snapchat does have a feature to notify senders if someone takes a screenshot of their message; however, this feature doesn’t always work effectively and even after being deleted by recipients, photos can still be stored on phones through third-party screen capture apps or shared via third party applications. Parents should talk with their teens about Snapchat’s potential dangers and consider installing parental control software to monitor usage patterns.
