From the Finsbury Library archives comes this uplifting drama about two teenage girls who find strength to openly be lesbian. Charlotte and Christine, 13-year-old friends at school who make an agreement to support each other when coming out as lesbians at school, reach out to Lesbian Line after suffering humiliation (such as being thrown in a dumpster and called out as lesbians by peers at school) but do not wish to talk with their parents for assistance.

With the assistance of a Lesbian Line volunteer – typically an older lesbian woman – they begin to find strength and courage within themselves, becoming more self-assured and growing their self-esteem. Over time they become less vulnerable to negative influences from others, becoming proud members of their group of girlfriends while declaring their affection and sharing sexual experiences together.

Kristen Scott underplays her part superbly, and the film holds up very well as an R-rated 89-minute version released as a VOD feature in May 2023. Bree Mills takes an old-school (relatively speaking) approach to this crossover movie which recalls more closely one of those genre exploitation “problem pictures” of the 1950s to 1970s than any of the more “hippie teen movies” of recent years. There is some explicit R-rated lesbian sex which doesn’t quite fit with its content while there are brief XXX masturbation scenes which get its message across just as effectively if not more pruriently.
